Osun Govt Urged to Intervene as 25 Communities Face Road Crisis
Residents of the Oluomo-Kelebe to Athman Road axis in Osogbo took to the streets today in a peaceful protest, decrying the deplorable condition of the access road that serves their communities.
The affected road, stretching approximately three kilometres from Kelebe to Athman, connects over twenty-five communities, including Aratumi, Akogun, Asejere, and Oke-Odo, among others.
Protesters carried placards with various inscriptions to express their grievances and called on the state government to urgently intervene and rehabilitate the long-neglected road.
Speaking during the protest, two residents, Muideen Alao and Kehinde Olusegun, revealed that the community had made several attempts to draw the government’s attention to the road, but all efforts had been unsuccessful.
They expressed deep concern about how the ongoing rainy season has worsened the road’s condition, making it nearly impassable and severely affecting daily transportation and economic activities.
Another resident, also speaking during the protest, emphasized the importance of the road to thousands of people who depend on it daily, urging the state government to treat the matter with the urgency it deserves.
The protesters vowed to continue their demonstration until the government accedes to their demands and commences reconstruction of the road.
