Osun LG Workers Resume Duties After NULGE Directive
Local government workers in Osun State have resumed duties at their various council Secretariats, following a directive from the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE.
The workers had stayed away from work since February 2025 in compliance with an earlier union directive, but have now returned to their posts despite speculations of possible unrest in some parts of the state.
Adaba FM correspondent Tolulope Faleye who visited some council secretariats, reports that police operatives were seen providing security and maintaining order, while the environment remained generally calm.
The Chairman of Olorunda Local Government, Kunle Kudaisi, expressed delight over the workers’ resumption, saying it would enhance service delivery at the grassroots.
He also encouraged those still hesitant to return to work to do so without fear.
However, the Osun State chairman of national union of local government employees Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, said the union would continue to prioritize the safety and welfare of its members, but maintained that the APC officials currently occupying council offices have no legal justification to remain in control.
It would be recalled that the Local government administration in Osun State has continued to face crisis following the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on February 10, 2025, in Akure.
The Peoples Democratic Party argues that the decision did not restore the removed APC chairmen and councillors elected in 2022, but the All Progressives Congress maintains that the ruling effectively brought them back into office.
