Osun Govt Enrolls Over 1,000 Inmates into State Health Insurance Scheme

Osun State government has approved the enrollment of over one thousand inmates into the Osun State health insurance scheme.

The executive secretary of the agency Rasaq Akindele made this known while speaking to journalists at the state Secretariat in osogbo, the state capital

Akindele said the governor has also ordered free surgical operations for some inmates with advanced medical conditions

He explained that the approval followed a passionate appeal by the Osun State Controller of Correctional service Olalekan Oluwadele, during a courtesy visit to the governor.

Akindele said since inmates are also residents of Osun who will eventually be reintegrated into society, their health remains the concern of Governor Adeleke nothing that this gesture is from a clear heart, devoid of political inclination.

The State Controller of Nigeria Correctional service, Olalekan Oluwadele lauded the state government for the initiative.

Oluwadele noted that before the initiative, the Federal Government is solely responsible for inmates healthcare, noting that governor Adeleke’s intervention would significantly improve access to medical services for beneficiaries
