ONDO POLICE RESCUE 4-YEAR-OLD GIRL, BUST CHILD-TRAFFICKING SYNDICATE

The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued a four-year-old girl and uncovered a child-trafficking network operating across Ondo, Delta, and Anambra states.

Police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olushola, revealed that the case began in February when the victim, Jesinta Sunday, was reported missing in Akure.

After months of investigation, detectives traced the little girl to Asaba, Delta State, where she was safely recovered.

Ayanlade disclosed that a 30-year-old suspect, Amaka Chukwuemeka, was arrested for allegedly purchasing the child for ₦3.7 million. Further arrests — including Mabel Esimai (58) and Chioma Okechukwu (37) — exposed a larger syndicate that specialized in forging adoption papers to sell children.

Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, assured the public that Ondo State will not be a safe haven for child traffickers, adding that investigations are ongoing to apprehend all those involved and bring them to justice.
