Ondo Police Arrest Seven over Abduction of AAUA Lecturer

The Ondo State Police Command says it has arrested seven suspects over the kidnap of Mr. Omoniyi Samuel, a lecturer at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, says the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation that exposed each suspect’s role.

They include 45-year-old Benson Alaba of Akungba-Akoko, accused of spying on the victim; and 42-year-old Ogungbemi Wasiu of Ikare, who allegedly provided the phone used to demand a five-million-naira ransom.

Others are Audu Shaibu, Ismaila Abdullahi, Nuru Bature, Usman Baba, 20; and Yusuf Muhammed, who are all from Agopanu, Owo.

The victim is receiving treatment, while police continue the search for fleeing accomplices.

The Command also dismissed reports that the suspects were caught sharing ransom money, insisting they were arrested through follow-up operations.
