Ekiti community cries out over incessant kidnapping of residents
Residents of Itapaji, Ekiti, have appealed to the state government to intervene and rescue them from the constant threat of kidnappers who are making their lives miserable for the people of the community.
The Obadofin of Itapaji, Chief Kazeem Aliyu, spoke on behalf of the town’s king in an interview with Adaba FM, stated that the community is presently facing a threat to both lives and properties following the recent attack by suspected kidnappers.
He noted that during the attack, a pastor in the community was kidnapped and a six-year-old boy was killed.
Chief Aliyu said that the community lacking a security presence has requested the government provide them with a police post in order to strengthen the already existing internal security system in the community.
The community head said that they have informed the state commissioner of police, Dare Ogundare, about the ongoing kidnappings and killings in the community.
Some gunmen had recently attacked the community and killed one person, with two others abducted while coming from their farms and held hostage.
