Breaking: Court grants Sowore bail from DSS custody

The Court presiding over the case of Sahara Reporters’ publisher and a presidential candidate who participated in the general election, Omoyele Sowore on Monday granted him bail.

Sowore was arrested on August 3rd, two days before a rally tagged RevolutionNow for allegedly plotting to overthrow an elected government.

Femi Falana, SAN, Sowore’s counsel on Monday urged the court to disregard the submission on the prosecutor.

He said the prosecutor cannot ask the court to detain a citizen prospectively and in anticipation of the arraignment of the defendant order his detention.

Falana added that the DSS was illegal and not the creation of National Security Act.

The court has struck out the application by the Department of Social Security (DSS) to detain the convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore.
