Funminiyi Afuye emerges Ekiti house of assembly speaker

The lawmaker representing Ikere constituency I in the Ekiti state house of assembly, Honourable Funmniyi Afuye has emerged the speaker of the 6th assembly.

Afuye, a second term lawmaker, was nominated by the legislator representing Ado constituency 2, Kemi Balogun and was seconded by her colleague from Ilejemeje constituency, Tope Ogunleye.

Honourable Afuye was a former commissioner in the state between 2010 and 2014.

Also, Honourable Hakeem Jamiu was elected unopposed as the deputy speaker.

Hakeem Jamiu was nominated by the lawmaker representing Ido/Osi constituency 1, Abiodun Fawekun and seconded by the lawmaker representing Ekiti south west constituency 1, Honourable Yemisi Ayokunle.

The new deputy speaker was a former senior special assistant to governor Kayode Fayemi on research and documentation between 2010 and 2014.
