INEC tells political parties to respect constitution

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on political parties and politicians to always follow the constitution as regards conduction of primary elections.

The electoral body lamented a situation where party candidates are emerged in controversial process at the detriment of INEC.

Director of voter education of INEC, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi told newsmen in Abuja that smooth conduct of primary elections will make the body’s job easier.

Osaze-Uzzi urged political parties to always ensure sanity and transparency in their internal engagements.

INEC is yet to declare election result in Rivers state due to controversies emanating from last governorship elections.
