Aiyedatiwa Gifts Brand-New SUVs to Ondo Monarchs, Pledges Continued Support for Traditional Rulers
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday in Akure, presented brand-new Toyota SUVs to traditional rulers across the state, describing the gesture as part of his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the traditional institution.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the initiative marked a historic milestone in strengthening the relationship between the government and royal fathers, acknowledging their vital roles in maintaining peace and security within their domains.
Aiyedatiwa praised the monarchs for their unwavering support to his government, noting that traditional rulers serve as custodians of cultural heritage and the closest link between the people and the government.
The governor highlighted several achievements aimed at improving the institution’s welfare, including the completion of a long-abandoned secretariat for traditional council meetings and the prompt disbursement of the statutory five per cent allocation from local government funds.
Aiyedatiwa announced that all Grade ‘A’ Obas would receive 2025 Toyota Fortuner SUVs, while Grade ‘B’ and ‘C’ monarchs would later receive 2025 Toyota Cross models. He described the vehicles as symbols of dignity, honour, and respect for the royal fathers.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirming his administration’s resolve to uphold the relevance and prestige of traditional institutions in Ondo State.
