Ondo Police Arrest Man for Staging Own Kidnap to Extort Family

The Ondo State Police Command said it has arrested two suspects in separate cases involving fraud and threats to life.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrests on Sunday.

The first case involves 29-year-old Bello Azeez of Ipele, Owo, who allegedly staged his own kidnapping to extort five hundred thousand naira from his family and friends.

The police spokesman explained that the suspect has confessed to the crime and will soon be charged in court.

The second case involves the arrest of Muhammad Julli in Niger State for threatening phone calls demanding ten million naira from a complainant, with threats of kidnap and death.

The police public relations officer said Julli’s alleged accomplice, identified as Sani, remains at large.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, assured residents that the Command will continue to track criminals wherever they hide.
