Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Dies at 90

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90, just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday and marking one year since ascending the ancient throne.

Oba Olakulehin was born on July 5, 1935, and was lovingly crowned the 43rd Olubadan on July 7, 2024, receiving his staff of office from Governor Seyi Makinde on July 12 of the same year.

Reports have it that the monarch passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, sending shockwaves across Ibadanland.

His reign, though brief, was celebrated for its adherence to tradition, community engagement, and calm leadership.

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, a highly respected figure, succeeded Oba Lekan Balogun, who passed away in March 2024 after a two-year reign.
