Taxtech, NDPC & NBA Akure Host Game-Changing Data Protection Training for Lawyers
In Akure, the Ondo state capital, a major step has been taken toward boosting data protection awareness and compliance among legal professionals.
To this end, Taxtech, in collaboration with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, NDPC, and the Nigerian Bar Association, Akure branch organized a special training session on data protection.
The event, themed “Empowering Compliance and Driving Digital Confidence,” brought together lawyers, regulators, and tech experts.
While speaking at the event, Alexander Onwe, Assistant Manager at the NDPC, said the Nigeria Data Protection Act is already yielding results.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding personal data, noting that active investigations into data breaches are underway.
Chairman, Nigeria bar association, NBA Akure branch, Onimisi Umar, said the training is timely, as lawyers must be equipped to handle emerging data issues in the digital age.
Executive Director of Taxtech, Oyeyemi Oke, highlighted the growing opportunities in data protection especially for legal practitioners.
He stressed that data protection is not only critical for national security but also a potential source of revenue for skilled professionals.
