Zimbabwean government begins search for missing doctors’ union leader
Zimbabwe government has directed security services to search for the head of a doctor’s union, Peter Magombeyi, who disappeared on Saturday.
Information has it that he was abducted by three men.
Dr Magombeyi was the organiser of a doctors’ strike demanding better working conditions in the country.
Union officials and human rights activists fear that he was abducted by the security forces.
The Zimbabwean authorities denied any involvement in those abductions.
Health minister Odabiah Moyo said the state security agencies would leave no stone unturned in their search for the acting president of the Zimbabwe hospitals association
The police say they are investigating the matter but have cautioned there was a possibility it was an attempt to tarnish the country’s reputation.
