Widow seeks compensation from Ondo panel of enquiry

A mother of two, Mrs Deborah Ogunsakin is appealing to the Ondo state judicial panel of enquiry on police brutality and other matters sitting in Akure for compensation over death of her husband, Akinyemi Ogunsakin.

Mr Ogunsakin, a tricyclist was hit by a police stray bullet in Ondo town during the EndSARS protest on October 22, 2020.

The wife of the deceased approached the panel with her new born baby to demand for compensation of any kind to make life bearable for her family.

Counsel to the complainant Adeolu Ajayi said his client is yet to recover from the shock of the incident.

The case was adjourned till February the 17th by panel chairman, retired justice Sidiq Adesola.

Meanwhile, the Ondo state internal revenue service has approached the panel for compensation over looting, vandalization and burning of proper belonging to the agency in Okitipupa.

Counsel to the agency, Adebayo Ogunsuyi is demanding about 30 million naira to restore the items vandalized by the EndSARS protesters in October 2020.
