US president fires secret service director

The United States (US) president, Donald Trump has reportedly fired the director of the country’s secret service, Randolph Alles.

Mr. Alles removal comes a day after department of homeland security Kirstyen Nielsen tendered her resignation under pressure over the situation at the US-Mexico border.

Dozens of top officials have quit the Trump administration since 2017.

The republican president had repeatedly accused Ms Nielsen of competence on border security.
