US navy ships conducts joint drill with warship allies

The US navy ships have conducted a joint drill with warship allies Japan, Australia and South Korea.

The navy said its their first combined exercise in the Western Pacific.

Commander of US navy’s seventh fleet vice admiral Phillip Sawyer disclosed that the Pacific Vanguard exercise near the US Island of Guam takes place ahead of president Trump’s visit to Japan this weekend.

Sawyer noted that the Pacific Vanguard joins forces from four like-minded maritime nations that provide security throughout the Indo-Pacific is based on shared values and common interest.

He added that the Pacific Vanguard is the latest show of combined naval force in the Asia pacific region.
