US halts military assistance to Cameroon over human rights concerns
The United States says, it will stop some military assistance to Cameroon.
The withdrawal is due to allegations of gross human rights violations by Cameroon’s security forces in parts of the country.
Information has it that the United States had terminated an aircraft training programme.
It also stopped deliveries of four defender boats and nine armored vehicle for Cameroon’s rapid intervention forces.
Cameroon has cooperated closely with the United States in the fight against militant group, Boko Haram.
