The chief justice of Ekiti state, Ayodeji Daramola who handed over the supreme penalty to the accused persons held that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubts and consequently found them guilty as charged.
The two men committed the offence between July, 2014 at Ilogbo Ekiti in Ido/Osi local government area of the state, when they raped and robbed their victim of her valuables, to include phones, laptops and cash at gun point.
The trial judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola in his ruling affirmed that the prosecution had proved its case beyond all reasonable doubts, stressing that the convicts should be hanged by the neck until life goes out of them.
While reacting to the judgment, defence counsel, Adeyinka Opaleke said he would file an appeal to the appellate court within ninety days regarding the matter to seek redress on the ruling.
The convicts were first arraigned in 2015 on two count charges of armed robbery and rape but they pleaded not guilty to the charge.
