Tinubu Extends Customs Boss Adeniyi’s Tenure by One Year

President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year tenure extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Adeniyi’s current tenure will end on August the 31st, 2025.

With this extension, he will continue in office until August 2026.

The Presidency says the move is aimed at allowing him to consolidate key reforms and complete major projects already in progress.

These include the modernisation of the Customs Service, the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.

President Tinubu praised Mr. Adeniyi for his dedication and strong leadership, saying the extension will further enhance the Customs Service’s work in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and securing the country’s borders.

The announcement of the tenure extension was made in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
