Taraba residents groan as resident doctors’ strike cripples health facilities
Patients in government owned hospitals have been evacuated to private medical facilities as the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) enters into its fourth day of strike.
The nationwide indefinite strike commenced on August 2nd to press home the implementation of the memorandum of understanding the association entered into with federal government in March 2021 on welfare and other issues that affect members.
Some relatives of the affected patients in Taraba state have cried out to the government to resolve the issues with the resident doctors so that they can return to their duty of saving lives.
Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee, Taraba state specialist hospital, Dr. Dashe Dasogot while answering questions from newsmen today admitted that the strike has affected the hospitals revenue generation but it will not reject patients.
The federal government and state government are expected to engage the resident doctors in a series of meeting in coming days to discuss ways forward.
