Sweden calls for Wikileaks founder Assange’s detention

A top Swedish prosecutor has formally asked that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange be detained in absentia for allegedly raping a woman in her home about decade ago.

The move was seen as the first step in Assange’s possible extradition from Britain.

The Australian also faces a US extradition warrant for allegedly conspiring to hack into a pentagon computer.

Sweden recently re-opened the 2010 rape case against Assange.
