Supreme court bans Rivers state APC from general election
Supreme court has confirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not have candidates in Rivers State during the forthcoming 2019 general election.
This was made known by newsmen that the court dismissed an appeal filed by the APC challenging the judgement of a high court in Port harcourt.
The court earlier barred the party from conducting any primaries in the state to nominate candidates to represent the party in the elections.
The court of appeal had earlier granted stay of execution of the lower court’s judgement nullifying all primaries of the APC in the state and restrained the INEC from fielding the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The APC in Rivers had been disqualified by the electoral commission from taking part in the elections over the crisis which affected the party’s primaries.
