Super Eagles shun press conference, protest over unpaid bonuses
Super Eagles players at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt have refused to attend today’s pre-match conference at the Alexandria stadium.
They were locked in a meeting to discuss the non-payment of their bonuses and allowances.
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, was supposed to attend the press together with Ahmed Musa but revealed that the players were holding a meeting.
It was revealed that the purpose of the meeting was to address the issues around their outstanding bonuses and allowances.
The Nigeria Football Federation has been battling insolvency issues lately following the failure of the former sports minister Solomon Dalung to include their budgets for national team assignments in the 2019 budgets before the expiration of his tenure.
