Strike: Osun workers observe directive, ground commercial activities

Osun state workers joined their counterparts across the country to observed the strike declared by the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), had declared the strike, following the brutalisation of the NLC president, Joe Ajaero, in Imo State on November 1st

Adaba F M correspondent Tolulope Faleye reports that the state secretariate in Osogbo were deserted, as few workers who came in earlier were seen leaving the premises of the secretariate few minutes later.

Government secondary schools and primary schools also complied with the labour directive as students were sent home .

Also commercial banks in Osogbo the state capital were under locks and key leaving their customers stranded as many were not aware of the strike

Some of the residents, Adebayo Adeniyi and Olayiwola Adams said the strike was not necessary as labour is fighting for their own selfish interest.

Adeniyi and Adams said the strike would only be acceptable if the labour is fighting for the hardship the masses are currently passing through.

Another resident Bolakale Adelowota was of the opinion that the labour leaders should shelve the strike for now but urged the government of lmo state to tender apology on the brutalization of Ajaero.
