Stop threatening us or else, we will step up our nuclear activities – Iran President

Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani has warned that it could easily step up its nuclear activities if Washington continues with threats and sanctions against Iran.

Hassan Rouhani told lawmakers that the landmark nuclear accord signed in 2015 could fall apart with the United States if President Donald Trump limits Iran’s ability to produce a nuclear weapon.

Rouhani’s comment came in response to United States legislation passed earlier this month imposing mandatory penalties on people involved in Iran’s ballistic missile programme and anyone who does business with them.

Earlier in the week, Iran’s parliament voted to increase spending on the country’s ballistic missile programme and the foreign operations of its paramilitary revolutionary guard.

Iran has said the new United States sanctions amount to a hostile breach of the 2015 nuclear deal.
