Southern stakeholders call for national emergency on security

Southern, Middle Belt Leaders Forum has called on the government to declare a national emergency on security and urgently come up with proactive strategies to restore peace and security to all parts of the country.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the unity of Nigeria, saying it must only be sustained on the principles of equity, fairness and justice.

The leader of the forum, Chief Edwin Clark expressed disappointment with the current state of affairs and the government response so far.

The forum called for total restructuring of the country, insisting that the country should return to the 1963 constitution

Edwin Clark urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone their presidential tickets to the south ahead of the 2023 election.

At the meeting were leaders of Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo; president-general of Ohaneze Ndigbo Prof. George Obiozor; air commodore Dan Sulieman, senator Bassey Ewa-Henshaw, Bitrus Pogu, Godknows Igali, among others.
