Rescued Chinese miners ‘feel reborn’ after harrowing ordeal

Two Chinese miners who were rescued after spending two weeks trapped underground have explained that they made contact with rescuers by knocking on a pipe.

They were among 11 people pulled out alive after an explosion rocked their gold mine in China’s Shandong province on 10 January.

Rescuers are still searching for one miner who remains unaccounted for.

Nine others were found dead, while another died last week in the mine after falling into a coma.
