Police in search of Austria killers
Three people have died after multiple gunmen opened fire across central Vienna, the Austrian capital on Monday.
At least, one attacker remained on the run after what chancellor Sebastian Kurz described as a repulsive terrorist attack.
Interior minister Karl Nehammer warned people to stay away from the centre of the city, as officials said border checks were being reinforced and that children would not be required to attend school on Tuesday.
Nehammer said at the start of the news conference that several people had been killed.
An official later clarified that two people were dead, a civilian and a suspected attacker.
Vienna mayor Michael Ludwig later told the press that a second civilian had died.
Ludwig said 15 people were being treated in Vienna hospitals, and that seven were in a serious condition.
Police also said they had shot dead one of the attackers.
Meanwhile, police are searching for at least one suspect after a multiple gun attack in the capital, vienna, that killed four people.
Seventeen other people have been seriously wounded after gunmen opened fire at six different locations in the city centre on Monday evening.
Officials say, one attacker was shot dead by police.
Interior minister Karl Nehammer described the assailant killed by police as an Islamist terrorist.
Reports said two of those who died in the random shooting were women and two were men. One of the women was reportedly a waitress. The second woman died of her wounds in hospital overnight.
The victims were in a city centre area busy with people in bars and restaurants, near Vienna’s central synagogue, but it is not yet clear if that was the target.
Seven of the wounded have life-threatening injuries, Austrian media report.
