Police Arrest 3 Suspected Human Traffickers, Rescue Victims in Akure
The Ondo State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected human traffickers and rescued several victims in Akure.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, says the suspects were arrested following intelligence reports.
The report says the suspects specialise in luring victims with false promises of international passports and American visas.
Abayomi said the suspects allegedly collected large sums of money from their victims and kept them in an apartment in Oda Town under suspicious conditions before police intervened and rescued them.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has warned landlords to properly screen tenants and assured residents of the command’s commitment to fighting human trafficking and other crimes across Ondo State.
