Police arraign alleged soldier rapist
The military officer that allegedly raped a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko has appeared in court.
Sunday Awolola appeared before magistrate Mayowa Olanipekun in Akure on a one count charge of rape.
The case is of interest to the wife of Ondo state governer, Betty Anyawu Akeredolu.
Mrs. Akeredolu set up a legal team to ensure proper investigation of the rape case.
The team is being led by the special assistant to the governor on special duties, Henry Adegbemile.
Chairperson of the federation international women lawyers Bola-Joel Ogundadegbe commended Mrs Akeredolu for her interest in the case.
The trial of the military officer has been adjourned to Friday the 16th of August 2019.
