Oyetola signs anti-open grazing bill into law

The Governor of Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has signed the anti-open grazing bill into law.

The bill providing for the establishment of ranches in the state was passed into law by the Osun state house of assembly on August 12.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor Ismail Omipidan who made this known in a statement issued to newsmen hinted that security agencies has been notified to enforce the law in every part of the state

Omipidan noted that any person or group who contravenes the order shall be liable to not less than 3 years inprisonment without the option of fine as well as forfeiture of the herds of Cattle or livestock to the State Government.

He added that the law will prevent killings, sexual molestation, protect the environment from degradation and pollution caused by open rearing and grazing of livestock.
