Oyebanji presents N900m gratuity cheques to Ekiti retirees
Ekiti State governor Biodun Oyebanji has assured that his administration would prioritize payment of gratuity and pension to retired government workers both at state and Local government levels.
He gave the Assurance at the presentation of about 900 million naira gratuity cheques to states and local government retirees at the government house ground in Ado Ekiti.
Oyebanji noted that the payment of the retired workers entitlements remained a top priority of his administration.
The governor assured that government would work out the modalities to offset the over 40 billion naira gratuity debts.
The Chairman Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Ekiti State, Elder Joel Akinola who speak on behalf of the beneficiaries said that the achievement of the governor in payment of gratuities was unprecedented.
He appealed to the governor to look into offsetting pension arrears owned the state and local government retirees by previous administrations in the state.
192 state pensioners and 94 Local government retirees got their gratuities after many years of waiting.
