Oyebanji presents N650m cheques to 247 pensioners
Ekiti state governor, Biodun Oyebanji said that his government will do the right thing concerning the welfare of workers in the state.
Oyebanji while presenting cheques worth 650 million naira for gratuity to over 247 benefitting state and local government pensioners said that government is not unaware of the hardship caused by the outcome of the subsidy removal added that government is working out the modalities to ensure that the measure that would be put in place is sustainable.
While rolling the cheques to the pensioners, Oyebanji reiterated his commitment to the continuous offload of heavy backlog arrears of gratuity to the senior citizens who had served the state meritoriously.
The Head of service Mr. Sunday Komolafe, expressed that the commitment of the governor to offsetting the backlog of gratuities gave credence to his promise to make life meaningful for the people of the state.
Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress Kolapo Olatunde and his counterpart from Trade Union Congress Sola Adigun opined that the narratives had changed concerning the issues of the pension gratuity in the state since the inception of the present administration.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs. Christiana Ademulegun, Mr. Joseph Abiola, and Mrs. Janet Ogunlade thanked the governor for placing premium on issues concerning pensioners welfare.
