Over 300 students contract COVID-19 after reopening of schools in Namibia
More than 300 students in Namibia have contracted the coronavirus since schools reopened.
With most cases recorded in boarding schools, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said safety guidelines should be followed to stop transmissions in closed areas.
Namibia closed schools in March due to the pandemic and re-opened them in June, with the authorities citing an absence of local transmissions.
All teachers and students have been advised to wear masks at all times and maintain hygiene to prevent further spread.
Namibia has so far confirmed 11,373 coronavirus cases with 123 deaths.
