Osun assembly to begin implementation of Financial autonomy

The speaker of the Osun state house of assembly speaker, Timothy Owoeye, says the assembly will begin to exercise full financial autonomy from January 2022.

The speaker stated this during the closure of the 2022 budget defence exercise organised for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Osun government.

Owoeye hinted that governor Gboyega Oyetola has already signed into law the state assembly autonomous bill.

The speaker explained further that by next year the assembly would no longer take files, financial demands, expenditure and salaries to the governor for approval again.

Owoeye noted that the autonomy of the assembly did not translate to more money for them.
