Osun APC faction protests, demands removal of party chairman
The crises rocking the All Progressives Congress in Osun state has taken another dimension as a faction within the party known as The Osun Progressives (TOP) trooped to the streets of Osogbo to stage a protest calling for the removal of the state party chairman Gboyega Famoodun.
The protesters who are loyalists of former governor of the state and minister of interior Rauf Aregbesola started their protest from the popular Olaiya fly over in Osogbo before terminating it at the state house of assembly.
Some of the protesters who spoke with newsmen Abosede Oluwaseun and Sodiq Olajide want the national body of the party to restructure the party by disbanding the state party executives led by Gboyega Famoodun.
Oluwaseun and Olajide also accused Famoodun of introducing politics of division which is one of the factors that contributed to the defeat of the party in the July 16th gubernatorial election in the state.
While addressing the protesters the speaker of the state house of assembly Timothy Owoeye urged the protesters to remain calm promising that the party will resolve the crises rocking it in no distant time.
The protesters presented a letter to the speaker of the state house of assembly, Timothy Owoeye for onward delivery to the party’s national working committee in Abuja.
