Ortom warns herdsmen over grazing law

Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has warned livestock owners in the state against disobeying the anti- open grazing law.

Ortom gave the warning in a statement issued by his chief press secretary Terver Akase in Makurdi.

He advised livestock owners to abide by the law by ranching their animals.

Earlier, the governor was displeased by the sight cattle roaming Makurdi metropolis and ordered the livestock guards to immediately impound them.

The statement also adds that the governor directed that the animals be taken to the quarantine unit where they will remain for seven days until the necessary fine is paid.
