One Jordanian shot dead at Israeli embassy in Jordan

Israeli officials say one of their guards has shot dead a Jordanian who attacked him with a screwdriver next to the Israeli embassy in Jordan.

The report says a second Jordanian was mistakenly killed in the gunfire while the guard was wounded in the incident.

An official statement discloses that the attacker was a carpenter working in a residential building used by the embassy.

Jordanian police have sealed off the area around the heavily protected embassy in the Rabiyeh neighbourhood.

It is one of the most serious incidents between the two countries since they signed a peace treaty in 1994.
