Ondo Police Arrest Suspected Cult Leader in Akungba

The Ondo State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected cult leader in Akungba Akoko.

Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the arrest followed a tip-off that some young men were holding a secret meeting inside A.U.D Secondary School, Akungba, on October the 15th.

He said the suspects fled when officers arrived, but one of them, identified as Abdul Boluwatife, was caught after a hot chase.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to being the leader of a cult group operating within Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

Items recovered from the suspect include a locally made pistol, cutlasses, a battle axe, cult berets, bottles of gin, and a knife.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, thanked the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his support and assured residents that the command remains committed to fighting cultism and keeping the state safe.
