Ondo Assembly Tasks Bureau Of Statistics To Live Up To Expectation
The Ondo State House of Assembly has charged the Bureau of Statistics to ensure accurate collation of data for the overall development of the state.
The House Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by its Chairman, Mr Sunday Olajide gave the charge while on a familiarization visit to the office of Statistician General of the state, Mr Wole Agunbiade.
Olajide emphasized on the importance of accurate data collation for proper planning called for synergy with the Bureau at ensuring ease of operation.
A member of the committee, the Majority Leader, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi stressed the need for systemic approach to data collection and the essence of accuracy for well structured planning by ministries, departments and agency.
Earlier, the Statistician General, Mr Wole Agunbiade commended the committee for the visit, appealed for intervention in budgetary allocation to the Bureau for smooth running of their operations.
The committee also pay a visit to ministry of finance, declared more support for the Ministry as regards transparency of governance in financing.
The Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa described the visit as timely, pledged that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with the committee to live up to expectations.
