Ondo Assembly Passes Revised 2020 budget
The Ondo state house of assembly has passed the 2020 revised budget of over 151billion naira
It is 36 billion naira lower than the previous budget of over 187 billion naira.
On July 22nd, the house had received a letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu requesting for an amendment of the state appropriation bill due to the effect of COVID-19 on the global economy, which has affected the state.
While submitting the committee’s report during the plenary session, chairman, ad-hoc committee on finance and appropriation, Sunday Olajide, said the downward review of the budget became necessary due to present economic realities with education taking 18.31 percent of the revised budget.
Olajide also gave reasons why health did not get the lion share.
In his ruling, state speaker, Bamidele Oleyeloogun gave the breakdown of the revised budget, appreciating the adhoc committee for rising to the occasion in the interest of the people
On the forthcoming local government elections, the chairman, adhoc committee on information, Olugbenga Omole said an adhoc committee has been set up to supervise the election process before, during and after.
