UPDATE: Ondo Assembly impeaches deputy speaker
The Ondo state house of Assembly has impeached the deputy speaker, Mr. Iroju Ogundeji.
At the House plenary on Tuesday, Iroju representing Odigbo constituency 1 was impeached following the house resolutions led by the speaker, Bamidele Oloyelogun.
In a parliamentary resolution presentee by tomide Akínrogunde, iroju was alleged of gross misconduct inimical to the progress of the House.
The resolution signed by twenty members of the House was in line with the Standing Order of the House, adopted at plenary.
Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun therefore called for nomination as Aderoboye Samuel was elected through a majority voice vote.
In his acceptance speech, Aderoboye pledged to work with other stakeholders in ensuring the delivery of democracy dividends to the people.
Aderoboye Samuel was Deputy Speaker of the House during the fourth Assembly.
Also, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency 1 appointed as the new Majority leader, Akingbaso Festus, representing Idanre State Constituency as new Minority Leader and Taofeeq Mohammed as new Chief Whip of the House.
In his reaction, the embattle deputy speaker, Iroju Ogundeji has described his impeachment by the leadership of the house as illegal and unconstitutional.
Iroju noted that he still remains the deputy speaker as the house resolution can not stand.
