NPC to conduct first digital population census in Nigeria

A federal Commissioner in the National Population Commission (NPC), Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi Says the next population Census in Nigeria will be seamless, flawless and devoid of every manipulations.

Ajayi who made the remark in an interview with newsmen in Ado the Ekiti state capital shortly after he had held a parley with some journalists in the state, said the commission will be conducting the first digital population census in the country.

He further stressed that a total of one hundred and eighty billion naira in the budget provision would be deployed to ensure the success of the head count programme.

The NPC Commissioner who is a former Head of civil service in Ekiti State also said that the ongoing trial census nation wide was for all census operations to be tested in a detailed and comprehensive manner.

He pointed out that getting the Trial Census right is not just an option but an absolute necessity in the quest to deliver a credible, reliable, acceptable and verifiable census to the nation.

According to him, 4,068 Enumeration Areas have been selected for the Trial Census to test run their suitability and readiness for the actual census scheduled to take place in April 2023.

He charged residents of the State to come out en-mass to participate in the exercise and release their wards to be registered as ad-hoc staff to work with the commission provided the commission will be recruiting for the exercise.
