No Automatic Ticket for Buhari In 2019 – Tinubu
National leader of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Ahmed on Wednesday said there would be no automatic ticket for President Muhammadu come 2019.
Asiwaju who was reacting to the news of some Governors endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari for second term, noted that no Governor can appropriate the power of endorsement to himself.
He spoke after holding a closed door meeting with the Leader of Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural group pa Rueben Fasoranti, today In Akure.
Asiwaju Tinubu was in company of the former National Chairman of the APC Chief Bisi Akande. He was received by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Asiwaju Tinubu said President Buhari is a man who believes due process and rule of law.
“No governor can appropriate the power of endorsement to themselves because President Muhammadu Buhari himself believes in due process and rule of law,” Tinubu said.
“The President Buhari that I know will want a normal process, and who says that he will lose at any of the party’s conventions?
However, he said no law would be violated if the National Executive Council of the party and the members come together to endorse as the sole candidate.
“But, if the national body (NEC) and all of us as members endorsed him as our single candidate, we will not be violating any rules and regulations of the INEC.”
On the reasons for his visit to PA Fasoranti Leader, Asiwaju said it was to acknowledge the leadership of the Afenifere Leader, whom he described as a great leader.
“I am in Akure to acknowledge the leadership of Pa Fasoranti. His [Fasoranti] intellect is still very intact, and I am here to seek his advice and understanding with prayers,” he said.
