Nigeria Records 393 new COVID-19 cases as five unvaccinated die in Edo

Nigeria has confirmed 393 new cases of COVID-19 in various parts of the country.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this in its latest update on the outbreak.

The new cases were reported in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The agency added that six new deaths were also recorded

FCT recorded an alarming number of infections 121, followed by Lagos and Edo states where 86 and 70 more cases were confirmed.

Other states include Delta with 30, Rivers with 24, Plateau with 16, Benue with 11 and Cross River with 10 cases.

In Abia State, 8 cases were recorded, Bayelsa with 4, Gombe – 4, Bauchi – 3, Kano – 3, Adamawa – 2, and Taraba -1.

Data from the NCDC revealed that Nigeria has confirmed a total of over two hundred thousand cases from almost 3 million samples collected and tested so far.

Edo state has confirmed the death of five more persons who were not inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines.

Government has now urged citizens to come out to get the vaccines in order to remain safe and healthy.

The state COVID-19 incident manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this after the daily virtual meeting of the state COVID-19 taskforce, chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Obi said three the new deaths raised the total number of mortalities recorded in the third wave of the pandemic in the state to 64.
