NBC charges media practitioners on professionalism

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) says media practitioners must always be conscious of their responsibility to the public by not becoming the mouthpiece of any group or groups.

Rather, they must listen to all sides and subject every information to critical analysis before disseminating such to the public.

The NBC Director-General, Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, stated this in his welcome address at the commission’s broadcast summit in Lagos.

The summit is tagged “Conflict Reporting and the Imperatives of Professionalism”.

Shehu Ilelah said the summit was to address critical issues of national importance and that it is one of the most important gatherings by the NBC.

The NBC DG added that the summit was also to make the media imbibe the spirit of professionalism.

Resource persons at the summit include former NBC acting Director-General Professor Armstrong Idachaba, CEO of National Theatre, Professor Sunny Ododo, amongst others.
