Man faces charges for attempting murder of UK Policeman

A man is facing for attempting to murder an off-duty policeman who was repeatedly stabbed in a targeted attack.

The officer suffered serious injuries to his stomach, chest and arm in the incident in Rayleigh, Essex, United Kingdom.

A spokesman for the force said 39-year old John McCartney is being charged for attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers were called to a property in church road where they found the victim who works for Essex police.

McCartney is due to appear at southend magistrates’ court today.
