Mali expels ECOWAS regional envoy representative
Mali has expelled the ECOWAS regional envoy representative in the country, as pressure mounts on it to provide a definitive timeline on its transition to civilian rule.
This decision was taken by the Malian authorities following a un security council mission on Oct. 23 and 24 to assess the country’s political situation.
The ECOWAS envoy, Hamidou Boly was summoned by the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation where he was notified of the decision by the government.
According to a statement by the Mali government, Hamidou is to leave the country in 72 hours.
