Lawmaker in court over Adefarati’s emergence as APC Reps candidate

The lawmaker representing Akoko South West/ Akoko south east federal constituency, Ade Adeogun has challenged the emergence of Gboyega Adefarati as APC house of representatives candidate for the constituency in the 2023 general election.

The matter is before Justice Demi Ajayi of the federal high court Akure division.

When the matter came up on Tuesday, Justice Demi Ajayi granted the request of the petitioner to change the suit from writ of summons to originating summons in line with the federal high court’s guideline for pre- election matters.

Justice Ajayi consequently adjourned the matter to October 25th 2022 for hearing and the adoption of addresses.

Counsel to the petitioner, Johnson Akindehin said the emergence of Gboyega Adefarati contravenes the electoral act.

The petitioner, Ade Adeogun insisted that the APC did not hold any primary election in Akoko south west/Akoko south east federal constituency.
